could be helpful
Could we start a thread that list general/base meaning of some of the dream material? I know there are books but I think it would be helpful to have a list available on site. I know that not all symbolic material means the same thing to different people. We just need a place to start when deciphering some dream material.
Such as : flooding = a real flood? or old life being washed away? or overwhelmed with sexual feelings? or what? death = someone really dying? or start of something new? or end of some job? or what? I know in my dreams lately I have been a reporter or detective! I think I know what that means. I read a lot of Internet news sites and blogs in my waking life, ergo I am searching for things, so I am detecting? Since becoming involved with this site I am constantly aware of looking for matching headlines and reporting them here, ergo I am being a reporter. These two ideas are part of my waking life behavior so I am not really surprised to see these things in my dreams, I just had to think about it a bit. I just wondered what y'all think about the method to use to decipher our/other peoples dreams. Or do we not do that at all? Edna I know because I can read. I read because I want to know. |

RE: could be helpful
I never go by the "meaning" of an item in a dream, I go by the feeling that I got from the item in question.
I can dream of a black crow 6 times, and it will never have the same meaning, although others may believe it to be a messenger, or even a real bird. If I get a feeling the crow has no soul, then for me it portends a death, just like if the crow is talking to me then I may consider the words a message, or if the crow is injured it would indicate I need to pay attention to my health. I think this idea may help others though, seems like a good idea so I guess it couldn't hurt right? Tȟaté makȟámaniyaŋ wóihaŋble Súŋ |

RE: could be helpful
I think this is a great idea and I would certainly appreciate it. I too go by how I feel about a dream symbol more than a set in stone meaning. However, since I am new to this I have not really formulated my own dream interpretation language. I tend to look up things and then see which one feels right.
