RE: Misc: Open Microphone
The three biggest factors I can think are:
1. age? I'm NOT suggesting you are old...but there is scientific data to suggest that people do dream less as they age. I went through a dreaming curriculum with a 77 year old...she confirmed that notion. 2. Amount of sleep. For many, they don't remember dreams because they don't sleep enough. Our REM stage increases as the night wears on. You only spend about 5 minutes in REM in the beginning of the night, but after you're well rested, you might spend 20, 30, 40, + minutes in REM, thus you have much more TIME inside the dream to remember it. To dream more, you have to sleep more. Goal is 8-9 hours or more. 3. Belief. This is not the belief in your conscious, waking brain, but rather the underlying, subconscious belief. Perhaps you've subconsciously suggested to yourself that you are done with dreaming. This is VERY hard to ascertain because it's all subconscious. Instead of trying to figure whether you're believing it or not, go ahead and do a hard core self-programming protocol of affirming all day long that you dream a LOT and that you remember your dreams. Say it all day long for days, and that will train your subconscious. Even the 77 year old in my class remembers a few dream every now and again, so even if age is an issue, you still should be getting at least some dreams periodically. Hope this helps! |
