I have told this type of dream to my wife who tells me that I should write it down... and low and behold there is a site for this. So here goes.
I frequently dream similar dreams. All are based around me returning to locations i have been to in the past. I used to live in the midwest US, and then in Canada's midwest and now on Canada's Pacific Coast. So these locations are fairly specific. The very interesting part is that it feels like I am returning to a location as if I have just gone back in time yet it feels very current... so in that regard it feels like today. But in returning to these locations of my past, they are always extremely run down or in ruins and the feeling is that they have very recently been evacuated. Here is a specific example.
I call this U - for University.
I found myself in a classroom a grey light is pouring through broken windows there is a mess on the floor and it feels as if a whirl wind has just passed through. Papers everywhere but the feeling is that the building has been this way for ages. And yet it also feels like the previous occupants perhaps students were there just a moment ago. As I am writing this, the hairs on my arms and back are rising up because I can remember this very vividly.
It is not a very pleasant feeling to be looking around... I go from class room to class room looking for the people that seem to have just up and run out. This particular building was a cement structure. All grey pillars - the kind that get built by propping up sidewall and get connected with iron and glass. Hallways are dark and dingy. I come into what I remember is my bedroom - in a dorm. Everything is a mess. I keep going down passageways to what seems like the opening to a control room that overlooks a huge arena. The glass of the control room that separates this room from the arena is in tact but regardless the mixers and desks are all in disarray.Not the same for the arena which up til recently had a covering to it. And now the roof has caved in leaving everything covered in a white dust. Again I get the distinct feeling that some-one was there only a moment ago… in fact I think I hear someone now.
I leave hoping to find people… I go outside the building to see overgrowth - green shrubs and grass growing in places I know it really wasn't meant to be.
I go back to my room to look through my stuff and the rest of the dream is a little fuzzy.
I seem to remember that I meet up with some-one but it is a strange encounter that leaves me wanting to find other people.

I have had about 6 dreams that are similar but involve different places. All are about the same. In one case I am in a very old house that used to be a Mansion but now is just part of a house… parts are caved in. There are others and we all sleep on mattresses on the floor. Very much feels like the aftermath of some huge disaster.
