I was standing on top of a cliff on the eastern shore of Tasmania. There were several other people with me and all of us were watching the surfers trying to ride the waves.
The waves came in a series, increasing in size from about five to twenty feet high before starting the cycle once again. I"m not sure of how long we all stood there watching the surfers but after one twenty foot wave rolled in to the shore the tide suddenly pulled out and didn"t come back.
Surfers were stranded far from the beach. It didn"t take long for all of us, the surfers and us on top of the cliff, to realize that a tsunami was on the way. Surfers were trying to run to shore while a few people on the cliff ran to the trail leading back to where our cars were parked.
I woke up when the wave came in, splashing half way up the cliff side.
