In my dream, there was a large stone sticking out of the sea like an iceberg, except it was a dark grey stone. Upon the stone, I was standing with a Medieval knight and a smaller lizard-like man with green skin and yellow eyes. We were discussing how we were going to rescue a mermaid who was captured by a deep-sea monster.
-part of the dream I can't remember-
The mermaid was freed. Suddenly, I remembered that I had to be on the mainland soon, but there was no time as I had no boat and could not swim fast enough or long enough. Then, the mermaid, who was swimming a bit away from me, turned back and told me to hold onto her hand. "I will swim you there."
So, I swam over to her and grasped her hand.
With a flick of her turquoise and emerald-speckled tail, we surged through the water, faster than any speedboat, her red hair flying behind her like a banner. It took all of my strength to keep holding her hand without being torn out of her grasp.
Suddenly, we beach ourselves . . . on the floor of a Meijer store. I have no idea how we got there, unless the mermaid can travel wherever water is, as we had landed on a wet spot on the floor. As we pick ourselves up, I notice that I was there, only in a swimsuit (swim trunks), and that the mermaid, whose fin had separated into legs, was completely naked, though unashamed of the fact, for she was a mermaid (I must note that in the dream, I did not find this awkward or sexual, I just accepted it as normal for a mermaid). The customers and cashiers started yelling at us, having seen a naked girl and a swimsuited man get up off of the floor.
Someone pointed to a pile of clothes outside of the changing rooms and suggested that the mermaid use that girl's clothes (I noticed that the clothes had once belonged to my first girlfriend, now my ex).
To get out of trouble, they were threatening to call the police, I acted like I was the health inspector, and that the mermaid-now-girl was my assistant. However, when they asked her questions about brands, which she failed at.
To escape their wrath or disdain, we fled, without my ex's clothes, out of the doors of the Meijer store and . . .
I woke up.
