This isn't really a dream but it was with me all night. It commanded my dreamtime attention.

All night long, I heard this song:

I've heard it in the past and knew who sang it but I couldn't remember the singer's last name and it was important that I remember. I spent all dreamtime trying to remember his name as this song played in the background. I knew his name was Peter, that he used to sing with Genesis before Phil Collins came along, and that his last name began with a "G." But could not remember his last name. And I needed to remember. It was so important for some reason. Even in the snippets of dreams I did have, this song played and I felt like I was being prodded to remember the singer's name. Around 0600, I got up to use the restroom and on my way back to bed, I remembered: Peter Gabriel sang the song.

After that, I slept. No more song.

Like I said, weird night. Big Grin
wow! Gabriel. who happens to be the messenger angel. and "grab your things i'm going to take you home!"

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
(I) just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom
"Son," he said "Grab your things,
I've come to take you home."

To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Tho' my life was in a rut
"Till I thought of what I'd say
Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
(Back home.)

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" I said "You can keep my things,
they've come to take me home."
I wonder if Gabriel is the message (archangel) or the words to the song. Perhaps both. I have always loved Peter Gabriel. "Don't Give Up" is one of my favorites.
DLP, wonderful song! I don't remember having ever heard it. Wow, I think you had a blessed, even if weird night. Like a hug from above.

The lyrics make me feel "Scotty, beam me up" sorta thing. Come, Lord Jesus come is my own belief-system's way of saying the truth.

This world is not my home. It's been one beautiful classroom, pain and all.
I'd never listened to the lyrics of the song before and the significance of the name Gabriel didn't even occur to me.

Well. I certainly have a lot to sit with and meditate about.
DLP, there is something about the Catholic social activist, Dorothy Day, which reminds me of you, or at least, that is who came into my spirit as I pondered this thread of yours, and its significance. Dorothy Day was fond of saying,

"I wanted the abundant life ... I hadn't the slightest idea how to find it."

No, you don't find it ... it finds you.
Peter = St. Peter; one of the 12 apostles of Jesus; one of the leaders of the early Christian church; considered to be the first Pope; thought to be at the pearly gates when one arrives there (later interpretations).

Gabriel = God's messenger and sits at God's left hand

The lyrics suggest a death, "I've come to take you home".

Could be a warning of a death, maybe?
