I am returning home from school in my old, white, 2-door manual 1996 Ford Escort LX. The conditions are cloudy and there is a considerable amount of snow on the ground. As I pull out onto the road, I see that there is a small pile-up of vehicles to my right that has clogged traffic. I laugh to myself and turn left, shifting into neutral down a steep hill. Strangely enough, I have complete confidence in my car's traction, despite knowing that I don't have winter tires on. I smile to myself as I level out, only to see a large, dark-grey van speeding past me on my left on some kind of adjacent "
