I think here it may be that the number of smaller wars are coalescing into larger regional wars - so hence fewer total number of wars, just bigger ones.

Jihadi John did come to mind when I initially saw this. Has anyone else seen recent stories about the beheading videos being done in a studio owned either by a Brit or a US high profile person. Darn I should've clipped that url when I saw it...It is not surprising though since we know that ISIS was created and is funded by the US government as a proxy army.
