I'm not surprised to see the rabbit appear in a blood moon night meme as the hare or rabbit is very closely related to the moon (in most cultures, less so in the American/Christian culture) and the feminine/fertility or birth aspect of the hare/rabbit symbolism would be even more pronounced under the influence of such a strong moon.  (traditional archetypes relating rabbits to women, blood cycles, moon) We also have the reference to "witch" while being an expected meme at this time of year is also tied into the Christian/western influence on rabbit/hare.  Rabbit in my own ancestral lore would also be relevant at this time of year as rabbit was often a trickster who worked by the light of the full moon and returned to the moon to watch the results of his deeds.  Now I need to go dig up some reference matter...   hopefully I won't lose this while I go hunt something down.

Wow, without a lot of searching, incredibly I found this reference that sums up a lot of what I was trying to say...  including the relativity to the "witch" reference in regards to the rabbit.

Here is one telling tale of the rabbit and fox but in the similar (but much shorter) version I remember, the rabbit returned to the moon at the end and laughed at the fox.

Now that is interesting. We had Mr. Rabbit previously as; Rabbit Recorded, and now we have Mr. Rabbit and Mask.
