"Shortly after her eighteenth birthday she was awoken from her sleep and was met by her royal administrators and announced the new Queen of England… and Ireland. She would have also been named the Queen of Hanover but females are not permitted to rule in the previous German Dynasty of Hanover so that privilege went to one of King George III younger sons who would have succeeded Queen Victoria if she had not given birth to any living heirs."
