When I was getting chemo back in '02, there was a story about a pharmacist "watering down" the chemo drugs: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nati...macist.htm I remember being horrified than anyone could do such a thing to people fighting to stay alive. Also came across another watered down cancer drugs story that occurred in Canada: http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/watered-do...-1.1341425
Cancer treatment is expensive. I can imagine how tempting it would be to skim a little here, water down a drug there, maybe give drugs to people who don't have cancer to be able to bill Medicare; making a buck would be more important than the patients' lives.
