Was in a bustling public building. Noticed that the ceiling had exposed support beams painted in an uneven shade of off-white. The workmanship seemed shoddy, as the beams were not cut cleanly or evenly. On the ceiling material between the beams, there were large nail heads popping out in a grid-like fashion. At first I lamented about how far downhill craftsmanship and pride in a job well-done has gone. But after looking more closely at the nail pops and noticing how uniform they were, in both distance from each other and how far out they popped, I wondered if it hadn"t been done that way by design.
