The Italian bridge was apparently lit by lightning during a heavy storm which might have contributed to the cause of the collapse. It was considered a failure of design and in constant need of repair. It was known to have corrosion issues. 35 have died when the Genoa bridge collapsed into the water below. People may be trapped.
