It seems like there is a very important part of this dream I forgot towards the beginning. I had an "AHA!" moment, but it just slips my mind... but I remember most of what happened afterwards... go figure.
I can remember sitting on my porch with my feet propped up on an extra chair. I had planted some seeds that were rapidly growing into a strange, fluffy green plant. It looked a bit like someone had spray-painted a wad of cotton green and it was fanning out to protect my other seedlings from the abnormally hot sun, until then, I was using my legs to offer shade to the seedlings. Once the weird cottony plant had grown to a full enough size, I was able to set my legs down and examine my seedlings. They all looked vivid and green - very happy and healthy- and I felt pretty smug.
There was an old man and old lady carrying a basket in my yard and they came to sit and talk with me. I waved them over to join me on my porch and to get out of the hot sun, then went inside to fix a pitcher of ice water. Afterwards, we sat and talked and they showed me their basket. It was full of fresh, fragrant nectarines! They asked me to help them with these nectarines and handed me a small knife. They instructed me to slice the nectarines very carefully and to eat it in thin slices to build up the energy I would need later in the day. When the fruit was gone, I was to gently dry out the seed for just a little while, then gently place it back in the basket.
So, for a while, we just sat and talked about life while we sliced and ate our fill of fruit. The fruit we did not eat, we laid out to dry. I was especially excited to do this with them because I did not know how to sun dry fruit. When this was all done, the couple took the basket and asked me to join them for a walk.
We walked by a busy highway. As in a lot of areas, you had several yards of flat grass, then fenced in forest that was "federal land". The couple had set up little structures to offer shade to seedlings... and also to hide what they were doing from helicopters and other things in the sky. They were taking the seeds of plants, especially fruit trees, and planting them against the fenced in forest area. For some reason, this seemed like very important work. I had the feeling that when the trees were big enough, they would come back out and stretch the fence around the trees. The forest would grow and it would grow so slowly that people would not even notice it until they found themselves driving through it. I thought this was brilliant! It seemed like super hard work though... hard work for people who would be ungrateful afterwards and who would not appreciate the fruit of their labors... even though it was meant to feed and shelter the people. Then I had to wonder why the couple would risk someone finding out what they were doing by randomly choosing me to accompany them. They didn't know how I would react to find them secretly doing this... why risk bringing me along? It was because they were old and tired and would not be around to do this much longer. I answered my own question to myself and my heart sank... This couple had been doing it so well for so long... and in spite of their hard work being cut down in front of them many times. I didn't know if I could measure up to them... and then I thought to myself that I have 3 boys and a girl on the way... if I could teach them to do the things this couple taught me... I could do the work they were doing and do it almost 3X as fast! But still... it would be hard for me to get over the loss of this couple should they die... because in the short time we had talked, I felt so close to them. They were like close family to me now.
We talked some more as we planted the nectarine seeds around the fence and then I noticed something in the sky. There was a giant festival balloon in the sky. It was deflating very quickly and looked like a giant mess up there in the sky - you couldn't make out what it might have been shaped like before. I looked to see it being followed by what looked like a satellite. A satellite like you would expect to see in space... it was huge, dark grey/black, and following/ orbiting this deflating balloon. Also, following the balloon was a dark grey jet. Suddenly the highway was gone, and I was at what seemed to be my grandparent's old country home. I excused myself from the couple and ran to get a better view of this balloon. It was even bigger than the jet in the sky and I thought that if it fell on anyone it could kill them, so I ran as fast as I could hoping to estimate where it would fall and clear out any people who might be underneath it. I came to a spot right next to the old home. The landing area had a large shadow area on it. There were other people there, but they had already cleared the area so I felt relieved... still though, I thought any blast of air from the impact might hurt people and tried to encourage them to move back farther... but they didn't seem to want to listen to me. I spent too long trying to convince them before realizing that I myself was in harms way... once I realized this, I ran and made a nose dive into a ditch just as the balloon hit. It seemed like this thing probably weighed hundreds or thousands of pounds... and the ditch saved me from the blast of air. All the people standing nearby were gone now... so I inspected the balloon for a minute before I got frightened by helicopters and planes in the sky.
Also in the sky... was a pirate ship. I don't know why... but there was a huge, nasty pirate ship up there and it seemed like it was responsible for destroying this balloon. And although it SEEMED like the planes and helicopters might be fighting the pirate ship... I felt like it was all just a show. I had suspicions that they were really working WITH the pirate ship... and this made me very angry. I decided that I would get to the bottom of this on my own and I would bring the pirate ship and those aircrafts down... or at least expose them for what they were.
Parts of the dream become foggy here, but I remember trying to infiltrate the bad guy's organization by pretending to be a student in training. I needed help. I needed a friend.. but I didn't know anyone. While I was sneaking around, however, I met a mouse... or some kind of rodent. She tugged at my pants leg and offered to make a deal with me. If I made her into a human, she would help me on my mission... I agreed but wasn't sure just how I would turn her into a human... she insisted that I was able to... to I cupped both hands over her as she sat on the floor, closed my eyes and just kind of ran energy into her. To my surprise it worked! I certainly didn't know I was capable of that sort of thing... and now this meek little mouse was a grown woman just bursting with energy. She crouched naked for a while trying to gain balance in her two legs. She had creamy white skin and her hair was a very light blond with a slightly green tent to it. Her eyes were very bright and a light color... but I cant exactly remember WHAT color. She didn't look like your average woman... and she certainly didn't resemble the little white mouse she had been before. We dug around to find some old clothes lying around and dressed her, and with all the confidence in the world, she marched right up and demanded to be a student. She later came back to get me and insisted that I was already a student... and we were immediately accepted, registered, and sent to a doctor for inspection.
They took blood samples from each of us. When it was my turn, I walked in to meet the doctor... there on his desk was something that just called out to me. It was a small chunk of crystal. It was a beautiful, clear crystal that radiated different colors and something in my mind told me it was opal agate... (though, looking up opal agate afterwards... it didn't look anything like the real thing in the dream... in the dream it was clear...) I felt like I needed to take that opal agate for some reason... which is very strange for me. I normally don't feel the want or need to steal things... but I felt like I really, really needed this. The doctor read my paperwork and put a drop of my blood on the top of this crystal on his desk, and it illuminated a light on his desk. It was a blob at first, and then gradually gained clarity to illuminate a small letter "A" on his desk. I had A positive blood. He wrote a few notes in a notepad, thanked me, and asked me to leave. I tried to sneak that opal off of his desk, but he noticed me and told me that I could not have it and to please return it. I begrudgingly put it back on his desk and slumped out of the room. I needed to remember to get one of these things later. I felt like it was an important tool for me to have... but then again, I've always had a fascination with opals... just not opal agate.
Next, the girl I was with took me to straiten out issues in the cafeteria. Apparently there was another person with my name. My first name and my maiden last name. To my surprise it was an African American guy... the girl I was with had made me a fake ID and we used it to prove that there were, in fact, two people that shared the same name at this school... after that, I was directed to make payment on my meals. I walked into the kitchen to find that there was one single woman back there cooking for everyone. She was an older African American woman and she was so sweet and kind, she sort of radiated goodness. She was not bitter that she had to cook for hundreds of people all alone everyday... instead, she sang as she worked and filled the room with music and the wonderful smells of her cooking. (Have you ever heard the saying that something "Is so good it'll make you slap yer mama from the table"? Yeah... her cooking smelt THAT good. Imagine the smell of angels coming down from heaven and cooking you lunch...)
I talked to this lady for a while and we laughed and joked until she gave me some paperwork. I was a bit confused by it because there were three or so different qualities of food. The lowest quality was made from the less fresh ingredients and were not processed in certain ways... then the higher the quality of food, the more fresh the ingredients and the more processed it was... and the methods of processing were listed which kind of freaked me out because they talked about all of these different processing tubes. The highest quality food would cost $47... the second highest would cost $37. I had no idea how much money I had IF I had any at all, so I left it up to fate and pulled the money out of my pocket. I had EXACTLY $47 and paper clipped it to the paperwork she had given me and returned it to her... then she told me that today's menu would be chicken and that she had been cooking it in sets of 10. She told me about how she had seasoned it... the way she spoke, she reminded me of how I feel when I cook. I put a lot of passion into it... but I think this woman put me to shame! She was doing what she loved and she passed that love to others through her cooking and I was a bit envious of her for a moment... I wish I had THAT sort of passion and love. The more we talked, the more I just adored her! After a while, she handed me another paper to fill out. This one was asking questions about allergies... I had to check if I was allergic to male, female, or baby chickens... and then if I was allergic to eggs. Well... I wasn't allergic to any of them... but the paperwork stuck me as really freakin' odd... and before I got to ask the woman about it, the girl I was with dragged me out of the kitchen.
Apparently, I wasn't fitting in because of how I was dressed, and she took me to a small hand-me-down shop to buy new clothes. It was the first time I noticed what I was wearing. I was wearing these old, worn out pants and the crotch of the pants was made to be at about half my thighs length to my knees. It was pretty weird looking. Then I was wearing an old, baggy pink sweatshirt. I looked... horrible... and once I learned what I was wearing, I felt so, SO embarrassed. I mean.. who even makes pants like this?! At any rate... I walked into the store with my head down just knowing that I was probably getting all kinds of odd looks from everyone... I walked to the counter to find a man hanging clothes. He raised his eyebrows at me and I spread out my arms to show him my hideous, old, beat up sweater and simply said "Fix this". He got all excited and jumped up to run off and find me some new clothes.
He returned, bringing me an Asian school girl outfit. I was a bit embarrassed to try it on because of how short the skirt was, but after putting it on and looking in the mirror, I was surprised to find how well I was rocking that outfit... especially after having so many children. I had a short plaid red skirt on with a white dress shirt and red tie. Over the shirt I wore a deep blue vest. I still felt weird wearing a dress so short though, and I was about to change out of it until I found that I had attracted the attention of a very handsome Asian man. I wasn't married in the dream and so it seemed ok that he was looking at me, but I thought to myself that he would never want a woman with 4 kids and was about to walk away until I overheard that he had kids of his own. I thought about talking to him, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.
