filling the heart with gas

I was filling someones heart with gasoline at a gas station. They had their heart removed some time ago. When I filled it I noticed it took way more gas than I would have thought. I stopped before it was filled. Then I realized it didn't need to be filled. Just some added. I told the person and myself that there was no way for me to know this because it was the first time I had ever done that. When I put the cap back on the heart it hurt at first but was ok after a few seconds. I saw this person a few hours or days after and she said it was OK. I was relieved.
