Starting this thread and apologizing to SaveLife and any other poster that I've reported quakes on their threads discussing quakes, in case they prefer it not happen and haven't told said so.

We've got a Full Moon 7.1, offshore Alaska, and thank goodness for the depth of the thing.

What full moon action we have! Now a 6.1 in Morocco, offshore 'tween there and Spain, oh that's shallow. Hope their coastal folks are okay.

Will there be another within hours? making them "come in 3s?"

Interesting development here... http://yournewswire.com/el-misti-volcano...-woken-up/

It could spell out more earthquake activity in that region and chain reactions.

From one woman's posting about it:

"Perú - The OVS/IG-Peru released a statement this week about the current rumbling at El Misti. The volcano is beginning to show more signs of a potential renewal of eruptive activity, which would be its first since the 15th century. There have been several periods of very intense fumarolic activity at the volcano since that 15th century event, but Peruvian officials are taking no chances as almost 1 million people live within 30 kilometers of the volcano. This statement was meant to be a reminder to the people living in Arequipa that they live next to a potentially active volcano, so they should plan accordingly by not building onto the sides of the volcano or within drainage's leading from the volcano. They also remind officials that plans for evacuations should be ready if the need arises.

As if that's not enough there were some strange reports coming out of Ecuador today about steaming ground found ~45 kilometers southwest of Chimborazo, a volcano that hasn’t erupted since ~550 A.D. A crack in the ground with steam pouring from it and, in some spots, glowing, was found in Colta. The ground and the crack don’t appear to be hot enough to keep people away, as many of the photos show locals and officials getting close to this anomaly. There are no reports of seismicity in the area preceding this event and all the Instituto Geofisica has said is that they are aware of the crack and they are continuing to investigate its nature. Now, some speculated that this crack is actually volcanic in origin—mostly, it seems, based on its vague proximity to Chimborazo. They point to the glowing seen underground at the crack as evidence that this is lava. However, chemical analysis of the steam and gas being emitted found that it was volcanic. The most likely culprit is burning of subsurface organic material—possibly coal or peat—that may have been ignited by fires started by local residents."

I was curious about it's location and proximity to Chile that is always going off.

Still, glad you're on this. It's upgraded now to a 7.2 but really deep which is a blessing.

Wow, IHM! one hasn't blown since the 1500s, and the second one in thousands of years.
Sure is reminding me of the bible referring to quakes in diverse places, now ancient volcanoes.

Oklahoma had a 5.1 that is rightly a news headline today. Shallow and most likely caused by fracking. (This injection of water causing quakes can point curious minds to considering if quake active areas get massive amounts of rain, perhaps this, too can cause quakes)

The list for today...Oklahoma is being called "The New California" in some circles. or words to that effect, I mean.

I'd be remiss if I didn't report 2 noteworthy quakes in California today. That state is very overdue for even 7 mag. quakes and yet it doesn't often have high 4 mags or 5mags, etc.

Sumatra, Indonesia area had a 7.8, quite shallow quake a few days ago. Now, the region is among the locations that will experience totality in the solar eclipse coming in four more approximate days. God-forbid they may have another, perhaps even bigger quake. If so, it could happen within 24 hours, or another location within totality, or perhaps even partiality could have an "anniversary quake" of at least a 7 magnitude on March 11th. the date of the horrible Honshu quake and tsunami.

Here is a map link that marks the zones that will experience this in totality.

Nanny dearest, I cannot bring up that link for some reason.
George Ure posted about an earthquake dream t'other day that he thought might come to Peru. As he and I eerily dream in tandem sometimes, I must say I was a bit taken back as I had a similar dream that night only it had Chinese in it ( the dog in the dream had no ethnicity only worms). So I wondered if a big tumbler was coming to that area.
I was curious to confirm if any areas around China was in the totality zone.
