subcompact car in reverse

I was driving a very small car with either my family or other group of people somehow crammed in there. I remember trying to back out of a parking place in a mid size flat parking lot in the winter, kinda icey. Anyway, I put the car into R slowly and start backing up when somehow it slides backwards pretty quickly all the way to the other side of the lot and slams into a parked car. It was as if the wind just tossed it over by itself. We were all alarmed naturally and wondering why it happened somehow, and what the consequences would be. Nothing happened. An officer came by, and asked if everything was ok and that we should be on our way, like the whole thing never even happened.
