Well, barring a literal elderly king streaking some function, my gut says something is shifting, changing behind the scenes. We're being told one thing yet those who think they're in power are doing something else entirely, something the public won't like but will accept because the narrative will be framed that it's necessary for the continuance of our current state.
What popped into my head as I typed that was something like a false flag, a wag the dog scenario, that allows the government to crack down/declare martial law. It will be a ginned up event to allow them to do what they're going to do anyway.
