Have to read the article to see the written letter.
Geologist Predicted EPA Would Intentionally Poison Animas River A Week Before Toxic Spill
By John Vibes on August 12, 2015
To make matters even worse, the EPA actually had a warning about this a week prior to the disaster. A week prior to the spill, retired geologist Dave Taylor wrote a letter to the editor in “The Silverton Standard” pointing out that the EPA was planning a maneuver that could potentially cause toxins from mineshafts to flood into rivers. He also suggested that the EPA was aware of the possible outcomes, and were going forward with the plan anyway to gain funding.

I might say words fail me but that wouldn't be true. I have plenty of words I could use after reading Mr. Taylor's letter, but none I would use on this forum.
Spouse works at the Grand Canyon. I asked if they're bracing for the toxic mess to hit them. He said first it has to go through Lake Powell before it hits the GC and they would see how things went after that. But yeah, they're paying attention to what's coming their way.
My question, which I didn't think to ask him at that point, is that toxic mess is going to spill into Lake Powell, which is more than just a premiere recreation/vacation destination, providing big bucks to the tourism industry in the area. It is also a primary water source for CA, AZ, NV. Will this spill taint the entire contents of the reservoir? Would the public be told if it did? Okay that's more than one question, but you see where I'm going with this, don't you?
I dislike feeling like a conspiracy nut but when one connects the dots, one sees a very ugly picture.
