How it is done.

No intent.
Mood: calm but paying close attention and very alert
In a room with a single overhead light bulb hanging down that lights up only the center area of the space. A table and chairs under the light. Several men and women gather to exchange latest information and learned skills. (Like a spy network.) Many people standing in the shadows.
Man A: similar to a Churchill type body, dark suit and tie. Gray hair.
Man B: skinny with a loose jacket and tie. Dark hair.
Man A: Back then there were newspaper columns that ran in every daily paper about ordinary things that were read by everyone and talked about over the water coolers and back fences of America. They just did not realize we could hide all the knowledge in plain sight and that they were helping us to get the word to our people.
Man B: I remember we had those “Letters to Mama”. I thought those were the funniest bunch of letters ever until I learned that we were passing info back and forth.
The best one I remember was; Dear Momma, I tried your bread recipe yesterday and I must have done something really wrong. The bread rose as it was supposed to but after baking for your 1 and 1/2 hours it came out Flat and smelled very Yeasty. I have a new kitchen stove and am not used to its workings. I had planned to serve this bread to our new house guest but he has since moved along. I was very sorry to see him leave on the 12:15 train to Boston. What did I do wrong? Signed Pathetic Housewife.
I thought this lady was giving useless information and wondered why she was making bread and planning to serve it on her first try.
Then I saw the decoding; I followed your instructions. I made contact. Contact’s name was F--- Y---. He was unhappy with our offer. The kitchen stove was code for the offer and the agent did not have ability to change the deal. Contact will be in Boston tomorrow on the 12:15 train please arrange a new meeting with a better offer. The P and H were the agent’s initials.
Man A: We had these types of columns in every paper in the country. I am guessing they did the same. We spent a fortune having people just read the papers searching for clues from them. We stopped a lot of bad things from happening.
Man B: so what is being used these days?
Man A: Believe it or not we use face book, twitter, other social media, even porn sites are used. We use Chat to talk to each other in code. We are everywhere.
I am thinking we all already knew this so, I don't know why it came into my dreamland.
