Some excellent points, DLP. I have not been shown any 'mankind interactions' during the 'transitional period' either. I have seen tremendous planet-sized explosions, incoming meteors-or-asteroids, impacts, promises of 'there will be no war', but as you precisely state, you only get answers to very-precisely-phrased questions. To say 'there will be no war', you cannot assume that suffering only comes at the hands of war. There are many ways for a people, or the world, to suffer without war causing it.
That said, I have never seen the 'intermittent years' between the start of chaos or tragedy, and the coming out on the other side of it. Maybe it doesn't happen at all. Maybe the exact story isn't carved in stone yet (as per a dream I had yesterday that I posted earlier today). Maybe it is as bad as feared, and no one is being shown it. In the end, the greatest problem(s) seem to time-and-time again point back to one root-factor, a government (or governments) entrenched in their own plans of continuity that put themselves above the people.
Keep one thing in mind at all times - governments, like corporations, are entities that are sold to you as 'being man-like' and having your best interests in mind, but simultaneously they never point out that if they are man-like (corporations are legally seen as a quasi-human in many aspects), then they are soulless men, yet like men, they have the desire for self-preservation above all-else.
The word 'demon' comes to mind at that point.
