I can't know for sure, but I can mention this. That picture is precisely what happened when a couple of hurricanes/storms this season headed straight for Hawaii. One went north of the islands, and one south, I think...memory vague now. Point is that once the first storm had gotten that close, the forecast was saying that the next one targeting the islands could do either, go just north of them, or just south of them.
For this reason, this picture looks really familiar to me.
One last thing. I'm just a bit startled about the picture I just saw on accuweather for the Hagupit storm's expected approach profile. (Screenshot taking from http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-ne...i/38439268 )
Maybe this is nothing, but I find it strange that they superimposed a cone shape over the islands just like I did for the Hawaii meme:
Granted, the cones are facing opposite directions, but nonetheless....just a little wierded out by that. Probably just me....
