However, the Dutch weren't the only ones who wore the wooden shoes. The French peasants also wore wooden shoes, which they called sabots. There was a story told that the word sabotage was coined when French/other countries', depending on the storyteller, would throw their wooden shoes into machinery to break the cogs as a means of protesting the industrialization of various industries. However, from what I could tell, the main reason the word came into use was the workers were urged to walk slowly in the shoes, making a great deal of noise as a means of protest. Eventually sabotage came to mean the deliberate and malicious act of destroying property.

Sooo...where am I going with this? Not sure but also considering that the origin of the word had to do with worker unrest and worker slowdown as a means of protesting when outright protest was outlawed, I'm thinking in terms of "sickouts" or "Blue flu" sorts of events taking place in a coordinated manner( West urgent alert agree humans). With the reference of "West," it could take place in the US and/or Europe.
I realize this is kinda convoluted but the bot can often be convoluted in its messages.
