Just a thought... We use the symbol of the bear for Russia and the Horse for China. Can we use "Agent" for CIA/MI6/Mossad etc.?
IMHO, depends what words surround 'agent'. I've successfully interpreted agent as a virus or it can be a single person agent like a talent agent and, yes, perhaps one of those outfits you mention or a chemical agent. No, French hasn't appeared here, yet. I find that spider is a word associated with terrorist groups.
