Cahokia
#1
On a road trip in January, stopped at Cahokia Mounds in Southern Illinois. Never been before, but that place was magical. I could've just fallen to my knees and stayed, no wonder the people who called it their home chose it.

Ran across some photos I took and wanted to share...

Out of curiosity, how far is that place from where you live?

I live In the Tampa Bay Area of Florida, and Cahokia is across from St Louis. So many miles! But I grew up in Chicago. What are you thinking?

I dunno. Looking at the photo of the lake, I get a sense that this place is where you belong. Your turf, so to speak. The land guardians were happy to see you "again," is the feel. So you'll probably be taking another road trip there in the future.

Even if you never go back, you'll feel the pull to go "home."

I very often feel the pull to stay when I go hiking. Not really a big city gal at all. Being empathic, and just learning boundaries, I hate crowds anyway. Too much internal noise. But I agree, this spot was different. I didn't even realize the settings on my phone went to black and white. Gives it a very mystical feel.
