DF_Eagle1-01 -- Oct 2014 -- Food production suffers as a result of drought
#2
Here's an interesting tidbit. This all came from the weekend I spent in San Luis Obispo which is on the central coast of California.

1) Two local towns are trucking in water because they ran out. Cayucos and Cambria

2) talked to several people during the ride from Fresno, which is Central Valley and #1 location for food production. Farmers are hurting due to lack of water. Praying for rain.

3) dinner conversation about the local wine industry. Apparently the vineyards drilled wells deep deep Dow, deeper than the average well for private homes. They have dropped the water table so much the more shallow wells have run dry.

Remember that chuck that showed up in the dreambot lingo? Chuck as beef was mentioned. In past severe droughts ranchers have slaughtered cattle for lack of water. Adds up to food shortages to me.
