when we dream

I love the artwork on this page! Very fascinating read. My mama and elders never taught me about this. However, much was already lost, forgotten or ignored by the time I was born. I only benefitted from some homemade cures, prayers that had been changed from "Oh Great Spirit" to "Lord," some great pot of bean recipes and things I'm surely forgetting.
I even wondered about the artwork on my favorite Tshirts. Always in 3's and since my Cherokee elders had all become Christian I assumed, wrongly I see, that the 3 owls, horses, lions and I forget what all stood for "Father,Son and Holy Ghost." These stood for the 3 Souls, perhaps. I don't know if all Indians had the belief. Cherokee too? I do not know. Sad how much is already lost with us, the baby boomer generation. One soul travels in the dreams! That sure explains a lot. Thanks for posting this. (04-29-2015, 03:58 PM)esholars Wrote: Where Our Soul Goes When We Dream

Nanny, it is never too late to learn more about your ancestors and your heritage.

Darn tootin, you got that right. I really want to learn how "our branch" of the group did things. All uncles are now dead, but we have one aunt that's in her nineties, alive and clear as a bell.
Also, the internet is a fantastic resource. (04-29-2015, 06:02 PM)twiceblessed9 Wrote: Nanny, it is never too late to learn more about your ancestors and your heritage. |
