Update on the Transition

Update on the Transition

As most readers know, there is going to be a new face to the National Dream Center website. This old site has grown well out of it’s usefulness, and it was built in a modular manner, which makes it confusing to navigate.

The new site will only have one login requirement for dreams, forum, and blog responses. It’s hard to explain in words, but suffice it to say that the new site will look completely different. As of now, we’re still waiting for the designer to fix some of the issues with our new design. The core structure is up and running, but it still isn’t street ready for various reasons. As of now, I still don’t have an estimated time until completion, but I can’t imagine it being later than April 2nd.

One thing that must take place, though, is a web optimization, and I haven’t a clue how long that will take, but I refuse to go live with the new site until it displays dramatically faster than it does now.

Until the Transition

Because this old site is so convoluted, it is difficult to find the latest content, and even figure out how to participate. Therefore, this section is just a quick summary of how to navigate this current site while we’re waiting for the new one to appear.

First, DREAMS. Our old DreamBase engine is hobbling, and really was the reason we decided to design a whole new site. Since people are having a problem with it, we have two places to input dreams, and the dreambot reads both locations. If you already have an account in the DreamBase and your browser allows you to input dreams, you may continue inputting dreams into that database until the transition.

However, if you are new to the site, you should begin your ‘one and only’ user account over in the forum and place your dreams over there. The registration process is simple for the forums. The link is here: http://nationaldreamcenter.com/forum18/member.php?action=register .     Then, once registered, you are encouraged to place your dreams in this forum: http://nationaldreamcenter.com/forum18/forumdisplay.php?fid=34   Simply press the button that says “Post Thread” and describe your dream for us.

Latest Content

Most of the fresh daily content comes from dreams, linguistics runs, and forum discussions. Even though the new site will not have everything tucked away in a forum setting, right now that is where most everything resides, unfortunately.

The good thing about it, however, is that you can simply go to the main Forum lobby and then find the link that says, “View Today’s Posts,” which will give you a convenient list of all the new content in the forum. Note that you have to be logged into the forum to see the link that says, “View Today’s Posts.”

Part of the new daily content will be called “Bot Runs.” Every day (and I mean literally every single day of the year), we send out the dreambot to go look at what everyone is dreaming about and then we analyze it. Linguistics analysis has shown to be fairly accurate when predicting the future, but the best predictability comes when linguistics overlaps with actual dream content.

In short, we appreciate you stopping by. We apologize for the messy presentation, but just know that the layout is about to change drastically. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to post a question in the forums. There are plenty of people that will be able to answer all (or most of) your questions. Thanks again and welcome!
